Exam portals check three things at once: pixel dimensions, file size in KB, and shape. Get one wrong and the upload fails, often minutes before the deadline. This tool locks the crop to the required shape and then produces a JPG that matches all three. Use the generic passport photo and signature settings, edit the KB range yourself, or open a ready preset for your exam.
Which exams and forms need this?
Nearly every Indian recruitment and entrance exam asks for a scanned photo and signature. Limits differ a lot between exams, which is why we keep separate preset pages checked against each official notice.
A few verified examples:
- IBPS PO: photo 200 × 230 px, 20–50 KB; signature 140 × 60 px, 10–20 KB; left thumb 240 × 240 px, 20–50 KB; handwritten declaration 800 × 400 px, 50–100 KB.
- NEET UG 2026: photo 10–200 KB, signature 10–100 KB.
- JEE Main 2027: colour photo 10–200 KB, signature 10–100 KB.
- UPSC CSE: photo 20–200 KB, triple signature 20–100 KB.
- SSC CGL: signature 10–20 KB; the photo is captured live, not uploaded.
What the generic presets give you
The passport photo preset makes a 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo at 200 DPI. Because 1 inch is 2.54 cm, that works out to 276 × 354 pixels, saved between 20 and 50 KB.
The signature preset makes a 3:1 strip of 300 × 100 pixels between 10 and 20 KB. Both KB ranges can be edited to match any form.
Why do exam photos get rejected?
- File below the minimum KB: small crops can come out at 6–8 KB. The tool pads the file up to the minimum without changing a single pixel.
- Face too small or cut off: keep the top of the head and both ears inside the box with a little space above.
- Blurry signature: sign with a black or dark blue pen on plain white paper and photograph it in daylight, not under a yellow bulb.
- Using a WhatsApp-forwarded photo: it is already recompressed and looks soft. Use the original camera file.
- Wrong dates or details on the notice: requirements change each year, so match your preset's verified date to the current notification.
How it works and why your photo stays private
Cropping, resizing and compression all run inside your browser. The crop box works with touch, so you can do everything on a phone in under a minute.
Your photo and signature never leave your device. We only count anonymous usage, like the tool used and file size, never images or names.
