About JPG to PDF: key facts and tips

Key facts

Documently JPG to PDF is a free tool that combines JPG, PNG and WebP images into one PDF, one image per page, in the order set with the up and down arrows. Page size can be A4 (210 × 297 mm), which suits certificates and marksheets, or Same as image, which suits screenshots and receipts. Auto orientation picks portrait or landscape for each page, and the EXIF rotation saved by phone cameras is respected, so sideways photos come out upright. The PDF is built inside the browser on the device, so ID cards and certificates are never uploaded, and the output carries no watermark. Full-resolution phone photos make heavy PDFs, so a portal limit such as 200 KB usually needs a second step with Compress PDF; in our tests, the 200 KB target took a 5.16 MB six-page scanned PDF to 154 KB. iPhone HEIC photos are not supported yet. Photograph each page flat in daylight, convert, then compress if the form sets a size limit.

Most portals want documents as a PDF, but your marksheets, certificates and ID cards are sitting in your phone gallery as photos. This tool combines JPG, PNG or WebP images into a single PDF in the order you choose. Phone photos are turned the right way up automatically, and you can set A4 pages and margins so the result looks like a proper scanned document.

When do you need to convert photos to PDF?

  • Uploading a 10th or 12th marksheet that you photographed with your phone to an admission or scholarship portal.
  • Combining the front and back of an ID card into a single two-page PDF.
  • Submitting a multi-page signed form or rent agreement that you scanned page by page.
  • Sending fee receipts or bills as one file instead of many photos on email.
  • Turning a handwritten declaration or signed undertaking into the PDF a portal demands.

Which settings should you choose?

A4 (210 × 297 mm) is the safest choice for documents and certificates, because it prints correctly and looks like a scan. Same as image makes each page exactly the size of the photo, which suits screenshots and receipts.

Auto orientation picks portrait or landscape per page based on the image shape. A Small margin adds a clean white border; None uses the full page.

Large margins suit documents that will be printed and filed, because nothing gets lost near the paper edge. For a single photo, such as a signed declaration, Same as image with no margin keeps the content as large as possible.

Tips for a clean, accepted PDF

  • Photograph documents flat, in daylight, with the phone held straight above the page to avoid tilted text.
  • Crop out the table or bed around the page first with the Crop Image tool; the PDF looks far more professional.
  • Sideways phone photos are handled for you: the rotation saved by the camera (EXIF) is respected.
  • If the PDF is over the portal's limit, run it through Compress PDF; phone photos at full resolution add up quickly.
  • Check the page order in the preview list before converting; reordering after is harder.

How it works without uploading

The PDF is built page by page inside your browser, and the images are placed into it on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, which keeps ID cards and certificates private and makes the tool quick even on a weak 4G signal.

We record only anonymous counts like the tool used and file size, never your images or file names.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert multiple photos into one PDF on my phone?

Open this page in your mobile browser, select all the photos from your gallery, put them in order with the ↑ and ↓ buttons, and tap Convert. You get a single PDF with one photo per page, free and without any app or signup.

Can I convert PNG or WebP images to PDF too?

Yes. The tool accepts JPG, PNG and WebP, and you can mix them in the same PDF. Each image becomes one page. iPhone HEIC photos are not supported yet; set the camera to Most Compatible or take a screenshot first.

Why is my photo sideways in the PDF?

It should not be here. Phones save a rotation tag (EXIF) instead of turning the actual image, and this tool reads that tag so pages come out upright. If a page is still wrong, rotate the photo in your gallery or use Rotate PDF afterwards.

How do I make a JPG to PDF file smaller for upload?

Run it through Compress PDF after converting and pick a target such as 200 KB or 500 KB. Phone photos are large, so a PDF of several photos can be several MB. Scans also shrink a lot with the Black & white option.

Does the PDF have a watermark?

No. The PDF contains only your images, with no watermark, logo or extra page. The tool is free, needs no signup, and the conversion happens on your device, so your documents are never uploaded.
