Signature uploads trip up more applicants than photos do. The image has to be a wide strip, readable, and inside a narrow KB range — commonly 10–20 KB. This page is preset to a 300 × 100 px strip (3:1) at 200 DPI with a 10–20 KB range. If your form gives different numbers, just edit the fields. Your signature never leaves your phone.
What size do exam forms want for a signature?
It varies, but 10–20 KB is very common. Two verified examples: the SSC CGL 2026 notice asks for a scanned signature of 10–20 KB, about 6.0 × 2.0 cm. The IBPS PO 2026 notification asks for 140 × 60 px, 10–20 KB.
This preset uses 300 × 100 px — a 3:1 strip that prints at about 3.8 × 1.3 cm at 200 DPI. If your form lists exact pixels, type them in. For SSC CGL, IBPS PO and other major exams, the exam tool has each official size ready.
Why the minimum KB matters
A signature is mostly white paper, so a 300 × 100 px JPG can easily come out at 5–8 KB. Many portals reject anything under 10 KB. Instead of making you upscale or add noise, this tool pads the file safely up to the minimum — the picture stays exactly the same, only the file size changes.
On the other side, if the result is above 20 KB, JPEG quality is lowered just enough to fit.
How to photograph your signature
- Use plain white unruled paper and a black ink pen (some forms require black; others accept blue).
- Sign at your normal size — not tiny, not oversized — and the way you'll sign at the exam centre.
- Shoot in daylight, phone held flat above the paper, so there's no shadow or tilt.
- Leave a small margin around the signature. Crop Image has a Signature 3:1 shape if you want to frame it yourself.
- With Keep proportions off, a wider or taller photo is centre-cropped to 3:1 — never stretched.
Common signature rejections
- Signing in CAPITAL letters where the form forbids it (IBPS does).
- A blurry or tiny signature lost in a big white image.
- Lined paper or a coloured background showing through.
- A signature that doesn't match the one you'll sign on the attendance sheet.
